叙情的でメランコリックなシンセフレーズやメロディーをレイヤーする独自の作風は、時にダンサブルに、そしてビートレスなアプローチからアンビエントな世界観までを両立させる唯一無二のサウンドで知られる。

世界中の多くのリスナーから支持を受け、国内外のレーベルから作品を多数リリース。2001年ドイツのレーベルKOMPAKTよりKaito名義で7 枚のEP、8枚のアルバムをリリース。2014年ケルンにてWDRオーケス トラとの共演を果たし、2016年Derrick May主宰のTransmat Recordsから日本人初の「MULTIVERSE」を リリース。代表作として、交響詩篇エウレカセブンの挿入曲「GET
IT BY YOUR HANDS」、 宮崎県の民謡を現代的アプローチで表現した「TAKACHIHO」など。2024年秋にKaitoの最新アルバム「collection」がフランス、パリに拠点をおくInFiné Musicからリリースされた。

Composer, DJ, and producer recognized for his deeply emotive and
melancholic synth-driven sound. His music blends danceable rhythms with
ambient soundscapes, earning him a dedicated global audience.
After graduating from Tokyo College of Music High School, he studied Music
Synthesis at Berklee College of Music. Watanabe has released numerous works on
international labels, most notably under his Kaito alias on Germany’s KOMPAKT,
where he has released eight albums, including the acclaimed Everlasting and
Special Life. He contributed “Get It By Your Hands” to the anime “Eureka Seven”,
later reworked for its 2017 feature film.
Watanabe has collaborated with the “WDR Orchestra” in Cologne and was the first
Japanese artist to release on Derrick May’s Transmat Records with “Multiverse” in
2016. In recent years, he has continued to evolve his sound, releasing “Collection”
on InFiné Music and further exploring immersive storytelling through electronic
music.
